Your Future ROI
A career exploration and education return-on-investment calculator that
helps students, career changers, and transfer students see the actual
financial math behind college, trade school, or entering the workforce
directly. Owned and operated by Professor Jeffs LLC, a Michigan limited
liability company.
Who it is for
- High school students and recent graduates (15-19) —
making a six-figure decision before they have ever filed a tax return.
- Career changers (mid-20s through 40s) — weighing a
return to school against an existing salary and a shorter runway to
break even.
- Transfer students — comparing a community college
start against going straight to a four-year school.
What it does
- Explores 100+ careers with salary, typical hours, remote-work
potential, automation risk, and day-in-the-life detail.
- Compares earnings across high school, apprentice, associate,
bachelor, master, and doctorate paths side by side.
- Calculates total cost of attendance, 40-year net ROI, and break-even
age, with the wages given up while studying counted against the degree.
- Compares up to two schools at once across in-district, in-state, and
out-of-state tuition, including community college transfer paths.
- Adjusts wages and cost of living by state, per expense category
rather than as a single blanket factor.
- Models scholarships, work-study, and student loans per school, then
projects a post-graduation monthly budget using federal Fair Market Rent
data by ZIP code.
- Renders ages 18 to 60 as a timeline of education, loan repayment,
break-even, and peak earning years.
Where the data comes from
Bureau of Labor Statistics (wages), National Center for Education
Statistics (cost of attendance), HUD (rent), USDA (food), EIA (utilities),
FCC (internet), AWWA (water and sewer), NAIC (insurance), AAA and BTS
(transportation), BEA (regional price parities), College Scorecard
(post-enrollment earnings), and institutional Common Data Sets
(admissions). Sources are cited inside the app itself.
The app does not tell anyone to skip college. It shows what college
actually costs, what it actually returns for a specific career, and how
long the wait is, then puts trade school, the community college transfer,
and the direct-to-workforce path on the same screen with the same math
applied.
All calculations are estimates for educational purposes and are not
financial advice.
